Re: new website....

Oh, and  I like it.  It's elegant.  The thin, light borders around text boxes are nigh on invisible, since my monitor's really over-gamma'd (sp?) because it's a pile-o-crap (spuh?) LCD.  But then, I would need to get the entire internet to redesign their sites, not just archlinux.org.  When I get my second LCD, I'm demoting my Rosewill.

Re: new website....

Well I like the new style of the forums. Is good to have a consistent design all over arch Linux. Now Arch weekly news and AUR sites are left to be changed. Keep up the good work.

AHHH!

I opened up a thread in the forum and the layout changed on me!

Looks alright, no strong opinion either way.

Re: new website....

thegnu: if you have an nVidia GPU and its proprietary driver installed, you can tweak the gamma value for your monitor in the settings page. I know, I suffer from the same over-gamma problem with my LCD. smile

Re: new website....

I have to say that I really like the layout.
However (hehe). You use 'tabs' for forum/wiki/etc. It would be nice to assign to the 'tabs' the use they are made for and be able to see the tabs everywhere.
It really annoys me, that there doesnt seem to be a unfied way to get back to the homepage - this is especially true for the wiki. Once you have looked up something in the wiki, you need to do whatever to get back to the forum or wherever (can anybody still follow my confusing words?).
AND...dtw could remove the buttons from the forum....
But that's just my 5c.
I am blind anyway wink

Re: new website....

I like new site but there are some problem.
I am at work now and I use windows. I don't know if this is a problem but on Windows I don't see new files for update. Explorer doesn't show.
There are also problem with Konqueror - it doesn't rise firs page (other I didn't try).

Re: new website....

I got an idea - why not add a javascript snippet to frontpage that would always take the cursor to package search field, like Google has it.

Re: new website....

the new site has a new favicon. i'm talking about the icon you see in the address bar / bookmarks / tabs.

this is the one being used now:
sml-archlinux_logo_aqua.png

i'd prefer the smoother looking blue one (the one used in the header):
arch_linux_blue.png

wouldn't this one look much nicer? i think so.

I am so sorry. It happened on my system: when I change size of Konqueror, Arch page doesn't resize correct. And for example:
" 2006-07-10

Current: http://www.archlinux.org/static/newslet … ul-09.html Archive: http://www.archlinux.org/static/newsletters/"

Part of above text is in Realise part...

It was planned and has been for sometime.  The forum is most of the way there - see the announcements section.

Re: new website....

*muahaha*
yup.
Anyways, sometimes
--
(there is the saying in German:
"Every blind chicken will find a grain sometimes")
--
I will catch something:
the Wiki tab shows some problem on the main page. The links

Printable version | Disclaimers

are not in the correct position (at least with firefox).
Cheers,
Blind

Re: new website....

I think for usability sake and also to help those who's primary language is not english, the link to download Arch should be labeled just that, "Download", and not "Get it!" as it took even me a good minute to figure out where the download links had gone.  It's not very prominent...or intuitive.

Re: new website....

art is there... it's just not in the tabs. scroll down a bit and you find "Logos & Artwork" under "Support Arch:".
i don't think it needs to be as a tab at the top of the page.
