Hi,
I've just installed the new beyond kernel, 2.6.17.beyond2-2. During the boot process, the system hangs while trying to load the initramfs.
I've tried the kernel on the following laptop with the same result:
- Sony Vaio VGN-A197XP
- Asus M6000
Any ideas?
Thanks!

initramfs? you should stop using initramfs and start using initcpio. Just change the initramfs line in you grub's menu.lst to point to kernel26beyond.img

Sorry, I made a mistake. I'm already using initcpio image.

try booting with the fallback initcpio img: kernel26beyond-fallback.img

-beyond2.1 has just been released - wait for the update and see what happens.

I have had an occasinal kernel panic with this beyond kernel, I anticipate that the quickly released update adresses it, just as a rule I always maintain a stock Arch kernel and a beyond, just in case

Same problem with the beyond2.1 (and with the fallback image too).

It boots fine, but does anyone else have abnormal CPU load issues? (2.6.17.beyond2.1-1)
GKrellM shows a constant 14-16% usage when playing some music, while it's only 1-2% with the stock kernel (just checked). Really weird.

Kernel panic here as well with initcpio, while with initramfs it loads fine...
No, I've not made any typo on the grub menu, and the stock kernel loads fine the same initcpio configiuration.

looks like several users having the same issue with initcpio, just look 2 threads under this one. hope for a fix soon.

Good catch, eWoud,
Top reports 19-20% when nothing is running, only the KDE desktop with the latest beyond kernel.
Vanilla kernel reports 0.3% in the same state.

I'm getting this kernel panic as well. It seems like its having a problem communicating with my hardware, with both the trimed image and the fallback one.
