Xorg 1.20 with nvidia drivers crashes X when returning from suspend

Since updating to xorg 1.20 and nvidia 396.24, returning from suspend crashes X and takes me back to login prompt.
Xorg 1.19.6 with nvidia 390.48 worked fine. Anyone else affected?

I'm using MATE as my DE.

This is the error message in Xorg.log:

Edit:
I looked at some of the other discussions about xorg 1.20, but I didn't see anyone mention suspend issues.

I'm having the same issue, did you find a fix?

I've now switched to using Plasma and the problem is gone.
If you are also using MATE maybe this has something to do with how it handles suspend?

This still happens with i3 + nvidia-390xx (390.67-10) + xorg-server (1.20.0-9).

Suspend and hibernate dont's work (they exit to login screen killing the session).

Any insight anyone?
