To Arch Kivy community

Hi,

There is a complete set of Kivy and buildozer packages in the repositories. python-for-android Documentation mentions Archlinux. Unfortunately, there is nothing about Kivy and buildozer in the Archwiki. It would not have been lethal, had the toolchain been trouble-free.

I hope I don't break any rules reminding about the Archwiki support of non-trivial packages being nice and in order.

Here is an assortment of bug reports and topics:

https://github.com/kivy/buildozer/issues/312
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/472 … -debug-apk
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/498 … id-project
https://github.com/kivy/buildozer/issues/545

Closed or otherwise, all of them are very real, and no remedy is quite final. I've got an impression, though, that from there it takes just the smallest of steps to the final success smile . Really, fellow experts, the companion Wiki articles is probably all it takes...

So get to it.  Which Kivy wiki pages have you created?

A soldier gets his decorations for his achievement, not for his suffering. A Wiki article is a story of success, it is not a chronicle of failure. I tried everything I found with the buildozer; I can't report success. The buildozer is a frontend for the Python for Android; that is, one can build an apk whith p4a, bypassing buildozer. If I manage that, I promise to make it into a Wiki article.

kivy is in the official repositories, buildozer is not. It is in the AUR, and the maintainer doesn't seem to care too much about it, there is a newer version available and not packaged since December 2017.

Re: To Arch Kivy community

How would anything regarding kivy (or, really, python in general, excepting some corner cases) be Arch specific? My kivy project has been dead for a couple of years, but while it was still actively developed buildozer and p4a worked pretty much as expected. Not a trivial process, but no big hurdles either. Really, linux is linux, especially when it comes to python, where things really boil down to 'use a venv'.
