Latte showing opaque background

I have installed Latte yesterday. Before I restarted my PC it showed up nicely. But just after I restarted background is showing and I cannot hide that.

Please replace the oversized (200px maximum) images w/ links.
From the second screenshot I'd say you're simply not running a compositor, but you need to elaborate on your setup (desktop environment etc.)
