Why is it hard to change the gdm theme?

Some months ago I gave a try to Gnome (because of gtk3). By this day I mostly understand it, even the limitations, but one is clearly illogical to me: changing the gdm theme is not just strange, but overcomplicated. All things seems easy in the other hand, but this is very stupid.

Ps.: There's one thing very annoying - the background. I can't set a dinamic change (in every 10 minutes or daytime or anything), nor change the pictures directory.

Why? Customization has been on the lower end of the Gnome team's priority spectrum since Gnome 3 came out. Why is that illogical, though?

Because other customizations are more easy.

I think I know what you mean. I was required to make changes to the GDM theme.

It worked but, holy crap, is it complicated.
