Remap right click key with xmodmap Thinkpad x220

I am attempting to remap the right click key on my Thinkpad x220 keyboard to be Super_R. It is the key right of the spacebar and between the alt and control keys.

Using xev I cannot seem get the keycode for the key.

xev is printing the following when I press the key:

FocusOut event, serial 33, synthetic NO, window 0x2000001,
    mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor
 
FocusIn event, serial 33, synthetic NO, window 0x2000001,
    mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor

Why is this the case? When I try another key xev returns the keycode and I can use xmodmap to remap it to be Super_R.

See whether the key generates events in evtest or libinput-debug-events.
In case, please post your xorg log and the output of "setxkbmap -v -query"

Using evtest I get the following input 

Event: time 1528637953.314015, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 127 (KEY_COMPOSE), value 0

However, using xmodmap to bind keycode 127 to Super_R doesn't seem to work. Maybe something is getting in the way when the key is fired?

Please wrap the log in "code" tags as well.

setxkbmap -model thinkpad -layout us

Otherwise try to install xf86-input-evdev and whether you get the key recognized by the evdev driver.

One more thing:
The xev output could imply that the key is actually operative, but grabbed by some global shortcut daemon, so be sure to test it in a "clean" environment.

apologies for necrobumping, Just adding some useful info to this thread for future travellers, the key in question is known as the menu key, xbindkeys recognises it as 'm:0x0 + c:135 Menu'
