error: failed to update core (unable to lock database)

Greetings!
Help, please.I am a noob on an i3 desktop.  I could not update my system. Terminal reads as follows, after I type and enter "sudo pacman -Syu"

[sudo] password for blessed:
:: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed to update core (unable to lock database)
error: failed to update extra (unable to lock database)
error: failed to update community (unable to lock database)
error: failed to update multilib-testing (unable to lock database)
error: failed to synchronize any databases
error: failed to init transaction (unable to lock database)
error: could not lock database: File exists
if you're sure a package manager is not already
  running, you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck
[blessed@torski ~]$

However, when I do another operation, like installing something, I get the message saying something like

"pacman is busy, plase wait"

What should I do?

Re: error: failed to update core (unable to lock database)

I ran

    sudo rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

Now seems to be updating fine. It seems to have been that simple. I hope this helps other noobs.

Please don't necrobump, especially to empty post about information in the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … bumping.22
