Different graphic card vram value from lspci and System Info

Hello i am curious about my graphic vram value. when i look at internet on how to find vram from linux the result i get is the following

i am using asus laptop k46cb series, and upon looking at it it does support up to 4gigs vram well i'm sure it's not the one which is mine.
but i am still quite unsure if i did set up my graphic card properly since in the lspci it only display 256 M

lspci is the wrong tool for this, that value shows the memory addresses at which the kernel maps the devices for access. It doesn't know about the dedicated VRAM that the driver will explicitly map. It might hold true for integrated GPUs but I'm fairly certain that that is incorrect in that case as well.

As mentioned, the Xorg.log or FWIW that steam window are better indicators of how much vram you actually have.
