ATi Binary drivers issue [SOLVED]

Hi guys. Giving Arch a try since I am getting sick of gentoo and its enormous compile times.

I recently installed base arch (in less than 30min!!) and installed fglrx drivers.
Now the problem is when I go into Gnome there is a white horizontal line underneath my mouse cursor.

Any ideas?

Re: ATi Binary drivers issue [SOLVED]

Did you follow the wiki when you installed it?
I did, and it worked like a charm.

Maybe post your xorg.conf, and we can have a look at it.

...or an Xorg.0.log might be more useful...

I have the same symptoms when starting a second X instance on display :1. Display :0 works correctly, but :1 has the glitch You mentioned.

Re: ATi Binary drivers issue [SOLVED]

Thanks for the replies guys.

Will definitely post my xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log file when I get home from work.

BTW, I am using my hack-job xorg.conf from my last gentoo install. Could that be the problem? Or should I just let hwd (mkxcfg) configure a newer xorg.conf? The xorg.conf file I am using is pretty old and hasnt been updated in maybe 2 years.

Let hwd do the job for you, it works great!

Yeah, let us know how it goes!
I had to manually edit my xorg.conf after running hwd -x to set my keyboard up correctly.

Re: ATi Binary drivers issue [SOLVED]

just following up. It went great.

I ran

# hdw -x
# aticonfig --initial-document=/etc/X11/xorg.conf

Restarted and voila... everything is running smoothly with the fglrx drivers.

only issue is the command "glxgears" isnt found

glxgears is part of the mesa-apps package.

Thanks. I was getting about ~2000 on my FireGL T2 128mb.
Consider this topic solved.
