Re: top 100 games?

damn!! unlike most lists of top games, each and every one of those games had a solid reason to be there, and deserved it's spot. Good list. Awesome games.

I was also happy to see Sonic the Hedgehog in there, as he is oh so often forgotten... I just replayed the original, and it's still one of the greatest games I've ever played, easily the greatest platformer I've played. I've yet to play a platformer, where originality, thrill and challenge have matched Sonic 1. Mario 64 was close, but not as great as Sonic 1, which never grew tedious.

Re: top 100 games?

I loved the inclusion of Archon. My favorite game ever.

And I can't understand why NetHack isn't included. What's the big deal? tongue

Glad to see a good mix of both old and new. Lists like this are usually stacked with newer games just because it's all that some people remember wink

Indeed, where is Nethack?

And how about first System Shock - it is better than second after all...

Dang... not in there? I was just about to check for it. Still haven't played SS2, but SS1 should be on any list. Nice to see Thief on that list, even if it is Thief II.

I can't blame them for including Halo. Now that I've played through part of the single-player campaign in addition to the multiplayer I'd played in the past, I'm more impressed with it. Halo's enemies are a high point. They move and take cover, as well as diving away from grenades. As AIs go, they're very aware. They even talk and yell to each other. Sometimes you can find a bunch of them snoozing and sneak up to use your quiet melee attack. Unlike most FPS games you interact with the NPCs rather than simply shooting at them. The weapons are very well balanced, so you choose your weapon strategically rather than just using whatever is most powerful. The textures are amazingly detailed. On top of all that, gathering a bunch of friends around to play is loads of fun, partly due to the great weapon balance.

I'm shocked that neither Descent 1 or 2 is on the list though.
