User disappears after reboot

Hi, I encountered a weird problem yesterday, after rebooting my arch installation, my user account totally disappeared (I am running gnome). I logged in as root and couldn't see my old account, so I had to create a new one, but I lost all my files. The last thing I did before rebooting was installing the gnome shell extension to remove dropdown arrows. Did any of you ever encountered this problem? Thanks

Do you use a separate /home partition?

Re: User disappears after reboot

Sure I'll post the journal tonight when I'll have my computer with me. Nope, I don't use a separate /home partition, only a /root partition.
