Version of dosbox with support for save game states

I'm looking for a version of dosbox which allows you to save/load the current state  - enabling game saves.  I know that the Daum version supports this, but it is also not recommended and is deprecated.  Looking through all the other available packages, none of them specifies that they have this feature, although some state something along the lines of "selected patches".

Does anyone know if any of the existing AUR packages support this? Or can recommend something I can try and build myself?

Don't do that https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … ct#Bumping

Instead of hoping that someone else would do the legwork for you, what prevents you from trying the other options you've found to see if they include that feature?

Apologies, I hadn't seen that the policy on post bumping had changed. It never used to cause any problems.

In answer to your other question: nothing, although I want asking anyone to do any "legwork", I was simply asking if anyone knew already. I thought that was the point of a knowledge base such as this forum. I spent a long time the other evening reading through what docs were available to see if I could find the answer to my question before posting. I was intending to do as you suggested if no one on here knew the answer, but found it hard to believe that no one in the community would know the answer.

Clearly I was wrong. Apologies again for breaching etiquette.

Well I'm sure if someone sees the thread and knows about it, they would add a note, however I feel this really is a case where you'd be much faster trying them out as opposed to hoping that someone might have already tried to do so.

Well - I've tried installing all of the builds that were available (apart from Daum which is deprecated and not recommended) and they either didn't build or have save state support. Where there were relevant build errors I've posted them on the appropriate aur page.

Here (www.vogons.org) is a thread about a relatively recent (2017) patch for save states in dosbox. Good luck trying that, I don't know if it will work.

Re: Version of dosbox with support for save game states

Thanks. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem possible to register for that site, for some reason and I can't download anything (builds or patches) without it - or so it appears...

Edit: interestingly, registration is open again.  I'll give it a go!

Edit #2: It seems to work well, although I haven't tested it particularly thoroughly yet.  Early signs are positive!
