[FIXED] KDE Plasma Window Management Issue

Hi all,

I am trying to add a workaround for an issue I am having in Plasma. Kodi isn't playing nice with my dual screens. The GUI turns almost completely white when I try to make it go full screen on the second monitor. Plus it doesn't actually switch monitor, it stays right where it started.

Since Kodi is being a bitch I've decided to run it in a window and use the Window Manager in KDE to remove the frame and make it fit the screen.

However when I go to System Settings > Window Management > Window Rules and add such a workaround but it disappears when I move away and come back!

Is it supposed to do that? How am I supposed to setup rules that are global and load automatically?

Also the Help button in the corner does nothing, it's just a button.

There used to be a bug in the plasma beta packages but afaik it should be fixed in 5.13, what are your plasma versions?

I had this same issue in Ubuntu to be honest but was able to workaround it. Can't remember the exact fix but think I used Compiz (at least in the beginning). Obviously not applicable to KDE.

You might already have known this but..

You can also add window/application rules by right clicking the title bar -> 'More Actions' -> 'Special [Window || Application] Settings'.

This is usually how I setup the majority of my window/app rules. I've never had any problem with the rules not being persistent tho.

I tried to register to the KDE forums so I could ask about it there, but the 'complete registration' page has an empty dropdown for username and is a required field!

I might have a bug or some odd configuration.

I assume these create a file somewhere, could I manaually create it and see if that persists. Does anyone know where these would be stored?

I've now set this a dozen times and it decided to stick! It can still be a little flaky but applies my changes 9/10 times. Not sure why it was a arguement but it seems to be ok now.

I did run an update actually thinking about it, 60 packages (mostly libs) were installed and I gained back 1MB of disk space (I love Linux). So could be that it was resolved when I did that.

I also have two monitors and I'm using kodi with plasma as DE a long time. I don't remember exactly what I did, because I also had issues with fullscreen. I have a window rule for kodi in which is set the monitor I want and I set the option "remember" there. If I remember well needed to change the resolution from kodi settings/system settings to my monitor' s resolution once, and after that I don't have any problem with kodi in window or fullscreen mode.
