[Solved] Problems with how fonts display after fc-cache -fv

I don't know what exactly happened but after executing "fc-cache -fv" and rebooting the fonts on my system suddenly look weird and unaligned.

Before this I also executed "locale-gen" as I was trying to get support for Unicode characters.

My /etc/locale.gen file has the following lines uncommented:
en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8
en_US ISO-8859-1

My /etc/locale.conf file has the following line:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8

Any help would be much appreciated. I am not a linux noob but I don't know much about how linux handles fonts and locales.

Edit: Fixed it myself
The options in fontconfig were messed up for some reason.
