I put together a survey inspired by the recent reddit post. Thought it might be interesting to get this data in the one spot and do some analysis on it.
Survey url: https://goo.gl/forms/NZ5mlim0MFDd57iE2
Interested to hear your thoughts/feedback and see what results/trends emerge!
(Please let me know if anything on the survey form needs fixing.)

Have you seen the long-running thread on this exact topic?

There's also the results of the pkgstats application available...

Oh I hadn't seen either of those! To be fair, neither of those present the data in a form that can be easily worked with for eg. getting averages or correlations (at least not for the stats I'm looking for).

"How many packages are installed on your machine?"
1785
"Hint: one method to calculate this, requires the 'units' command installed"
I guess I now have 1786!

My server has 889, Desktop I am not on right now but it's 1400 something.
I dont really honestly care at all how many packages I have, as long as the space is sufficient and my programs work as intended I don't care. I used to care, about alot, but as time is expensive, I tend to not worry about such things no more.
