GETPASS_ASTERISKS option on login

hi,
   in my old archlinux64 I found /etc/login.defs

...
# When prompting for password without echo, getpass() can optionally
# display a random number (in the range 1 to GETPASS_ASTERISKS) of '*'
# characters for each character typed.
...

but this is still working?

I would like view "*" on every char insered as password

thank you

Re: GETPASS_ASTERISKS option on login

How old are we talking about?

I found https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19207, but it's 8 years old.

Basically, you need to find the same functionality for PAM, if it's possible at all.
