I want to type JP & ZH, so I installed fcixt. Ctrl+space does nothing?

I heard fcixt is good for typing Asian languages, but after installing and seeing a new taskbar icon, I'm at a loss.

I can toggle a virtual keyboard that does nothing and the input method is empty.

I've opened Libreoffice and geany, entered ctrl+space and started typing.
Nothing happened.
