Initiating IEEE1394 in kernel 2.6.3

big_smile   I am new to IEEE1394 so bear with my post for a few.

Looking at the kernel in root/boot i note many devices load as modules.

In order to initiate the device, are all of the modules listed in the kernel required to run IEEE1394, that is, those listed in the IEEE1394 category.  Are some of them needed for special purposes?

    Results of googling:

root@n6re root]# modprobe -v ohci1394
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.3/kernel/drivers/ieee1394/ieee1394.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.3/kernel/drivers/ieee1394/ohci1394.ko
[root@n6re root]# tail -f /var/log/messages

Mar 10 12:39:38 n6re usb.agent[1026]: ... no modules for USB product 0/0/0

Not certain what this means but the next entry searches for devices(scsi!)::

root@n6re root]# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
[root@n6re root]# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
[root@n6re root]#

There seems to be no device connected to my IEEE1394 port which is connected to HDD IEEE1394 compatible HDD.

   What is missing?
