KDEnlive: black screen when trying to scale

When starting KDEnlive I get the following error message:

kf5.kdbusaddons: Can not find 'kdeinit5' executable at  "/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/opt/cuda/bin:/usr/bin/site_perl:/usr/bin/vendor_perl:/usr/bin/core_perl" "/usr/bin, /usr/bin"
trying to load "/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so" from "/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so"

And then while using KDEnlive I get the occasional:

[h264 @ 0x7f4114146340] mmco: unref short failure

KDEnlive seems to work fine, but when I try to use the effect "crop, scale and tilt" my frame goes all black. No error message or anything. If I disable it, then it seems to work again.
