I have HandBrakeCLI and libdvdcss installed, but when I try to rip a DVD (HandBrakeCLI -Z "High Profile" -i /dev/sr0 -o out.mp4), I get a scrambled video. Seems like HandBrake is not actually using libdvdcss - do I need to direct it to use it or tell it where to find it or something? Thanks in advance.

No ideas? Maybe this should be in the Multimedia and Games section, but I don't see a way to move it. Can a mod move the topic?

I have reported the thread and requested that it gets moved to Multimedia and Games. In the future, you can always report your own thread and request the move. As to your actual question, I'm afraid I can't help with that, since I have never used Handbrake and don't know much about it.

I can't help with handbrake, it's a frontend to ffmpeg. I thought that it would use libdvdcss if vlc was installed. I don't know how to get ffmpeg to use dvdcss. In the mean time until you fix it, do you have mplayer or mpv installed?
lsdvd to find the chapter that you want then
mplayer dvd://3 -dumpstream -dumpfile vid.vob
mpv dvd://2 --stream-dump=vid.vob
(mplayer starts at 1, mpv at 0)
Then take vid.vob and do what you want with it.
