Gnome: Stop tracker-extract from hogging CPU

My god, I am extremely annoyed and I will stop using Gnome altogether as soon as possible because this is just unacceptable but in the meantime, if someone knows a quick fix for this I'd appreciate it:

How can I stop tracker-extract from indexing my data and hogging the CPU every few seconds? Ideally I'd like to disable it alltogether but I don't want to remove the tracker package because Nautilus depends on it. It seems like the tracker configuration menu is no longer accessible vie the Gnome GUI. Any configuration files I can change here?

Try removing 'tracker-miners' if you have it installed.

Re: Gnome: Stop tracker-extract from hogging CPU

Sorry for replying so late, I have solved this by just disabling autostart for all tracker-* applications.
So far I have not noticed any ill side effects.

I think I was alone in this. How exactly did you disable the autostart?
