Re: [Solved] Bumblebee broken since update

Same "Failed to initialize DMA" error mentioned above.

Some more tests:
- qalculate-gdk and firefox don't crash with primusrun/optirun
- qpdfview crashes
- chromium displays the DMA error in the terminal a couple of times but then it launches after getting frozen a couple of seconds, and youtube videos and other media run correctly

Re: [Solved] Bumblebee broken since update

The pattern seems that everything that actually uses the 3D engine triggers the problem (chromium will simply resort to SW rendering, not sure about gimp and gegl - did you only start it or also used a filter that would make use of GEGL, assuming it's enabled)

=> TEST THE HARDWARE ON A DIFFERENT SOFTWARE STACK. We need to rule this out first.

Re: [Solved] Bumblebee broken since update

I'm not in the position to install Windows right now, so I wouldn't know how to test with different software. But steam games run fine when lanched through steam in wine - wouldn't those use the 3D engine far more than most programs?

I tested some GEGL operations in GIMP and they seem to work fine too.

Re: [Solved] Bumblebee broken since update

Just try some live system that ships the nvidia blob.
I'm not su sure about the "wine" thing and whether it'll resort to SW rastering or ignore the optimus redirection or whatever. The idea that glxinfo fails makes me more than worrysome.

Re: [Solved] Bumblebee broken since update

I got no problem with last bumblebee and optimus. It works fine for me with Aur kernel 4.9.111-1-lts49.
May be a kernel bug?

I'll try out a live boot as soon as I can. However I'm 100% sure optimus is not getting ignored, since those game seem to run just as fine as they did before this problem surfaced, and if I try to run them with the integrated graphic card I get 1/10th of the FPS.

Re: [Solved] Bumblebee broken since update

My apologies, I didn't see the notification for your reply.

With one of the most recent system upgrades this problem has disappeared, so I'm gonna guess it was a library problem. I'll mark it as solved.
