acpi error: found unordered _bcl package

During startup i get the following error.

[   10.456209] [Firmware Bug]: Duplicate ACPI video bus devices for the same VGA controller, please try module parameter "video.allow_duplicates=1"if the current driver doesn't work.
[   10.457168] ACPI: Video Device [GFX0] (multi-head: yes  rom: no  post: no)
[   10.457223] ACPI Error: Too many duplicates in _BCL package (20180313/video-882)
[   10.457235] ACPI Error: Found unordered _BCL package (20180313/video-893)

My laptop has AMD Radeon HD 6300M Series dedicated GPU.

This error is annoying. How can I fix it?

Thank you!

Re: acpi error: found unordered _bcl package

The error message literally contains a kernel parameter to try. Have you tried it?

That said, ACPI errors can for all intents and purposes be "normal" occasionally, the best way to "fix" those is to not get worked up about a non issue and simply ignore it. What you can also try is updating your BIOS/UEFI, occasionally they will contain fixes for these kinds of issues. However since most motherboard vendors only care about implementing the minimum amount necessary to get Windows to boot there's a chance that incorrect ACPI tables with no visible ill effects on Windows are going to be low on their priority list.

Re: acpi error: found unordered _bcl package

I didn't try to suppress the error with the kernel's suggestion because I thought that it might be due to not installing graphics drivers. I shall try to update the BIOS.
