Black screen after installing nvidia 390 drivers

Hi, yesterday after trying to install nvidia 390 drivers via pacman -S nvidia-390 and rebooting, the screen went black and started flickering, i could however use f3 and pacman -R nvidia-390xx and nvidia-390xx-utils and use nouveau.
This seems to not be a heavily documented issue and i can't seem to find a solution or workaround, is there anything i could do to install the correct drivers?

Output of uname -a:

Linux user 4.14.55-1-lts #1 SMP Wed Jul 11 18:24:20 CEST 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Output of lspci -k | grep -A 2 -E "(VGA|3D)":

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti] (rev a1)
Subsystem: ZOTAC International (MCO) Ltd. GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti]
	Kernel driver in use: nouveau

Re: Black screen after installing nvidia 390 drivers

Why are you trying to use nvidia-390xx instead of nvidia for a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti?
