kernel panics with recent kernels related to Intel MEI (or ACPI)

For about 2-3 weeks I am getting kernel panics upon:
- putting laptop to sleep (either manually or by closing the lid)
- issuing a reboot
Reproducibility is ~50%.

If I am in the console I can see kernel panic output. If I am in X it is just  a black screen and a complete lack or response to any keystrokes. Diodes are not blinking.

There is nothing in journal, but I included stack trace below.  The mei_* kernel functions are for "Intel Management Engine Interface (Intel MEI) Linux driver" https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/ … mei/init.c

Dell Latitude E7440, kernel 4.17.6 (but some earlier versions as well). There were no issues for the last 4 years or running Arch on this machine.
I will try linux-lts now (4.14.56) and update this post.
The laptop belongs to my company, disabling MEI by flashing is out of question.

Update 2018-07-24:
After using LTS (4.14.56) kernel for two days I got no kernel panics.

Mod note: Replaced oversized image with extraordinarily long URL. Please see the Code of Conduct regarding acceptable image sizes. -- WorMzy

I am getting (possibly unrelated) ACPI errors during boot:

Re: kernel panics with recent kernels related to Intel MEI (or ACPI)

I am having the same issue on the same laptop. Updating bios to the latest version(A25) partly resolves the problem: reboot no longer causes kernel panic and ACPI errors are missing from the kernel log.

However, suspend to ram does not work consistently and I get the blank screen. I believe this problem is not related to kernel though.
