Is /usr/lib/geoclue-2.0/demos/agent running?

No, it isn't. But when I run this command manually, and then check redshift, it works.
But I can't understand why the previous version works without manual intervention.

Re: [SOLVED]'redshift' doesn't work due to 'geoclue2' issue

I copied /etc/xdg/autostart/geoclue-demo-agent.desktop in ~/.config/autostart/ and now it works.
P.S. I've i3-gaps so I added the line

exec dex -a -s ~/.config/autostart -e i3

in ~/.config/i3/config.

Re: [SOLVED]'redshift' doesn't work due to 'geoclue2' issue

geoclue2 2.4.10 requires an agent to be running because of this commit https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/geoclue/ … 13c7b119ee
If however you start X does not start /etc/xdg/autostart/geoclue-demo-agent.desktop or is not gnome then you now need to manually start /usr/lib/geoclue-2.0/demos/agent when X is started.

Re: [SOLVED]'redshift' doesn't work due to 'geoclue2' issue

Ever since I updated to geoclue2 2.4.11-1 all works fine. But don't forget to add this lines

[redshift]
allowed=true
system=false
users=

in the file /etc/geoclue/geoclue.conf and be sure /usr/lib/geoclue-2.0/demos/agent is running while boot.

P.S. How many characters can a topic title have? I can't add [SOLVED] in it.

Not sure, exactly, but don't sweat it. Use your judgment as to whether you want to add [solved] by trimming the original title down, or whether it is better to just leave the original title and indicate that it is solved at the beginning of the first post.

But I can't do it. I only type one character '[' and then, as I type, nothing happens.
P.S. Thank you. I think in this case the best place is the first post.

I took the liberty of adjusting the title.  Change it as you wish

I think it's wrong, since people won't able to understand the source question.
Thank you for your advice.

Welcome to the forum.

Please do not necrobump and especially not to hijack with an unrelated RTFM-level/"I'm too lazy to google" question which on top of that is even explicitly explained in the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Re … n_GeoClue2

Make sure to read all the stickies in the newbie corner.

Re: [SOLVED]'redshift' doesn't work due to 'geoclue2' issue

I'm asking about the fix that topernic made to geoclue.conf to put in a manual position.  The link you gave is for editing Redshift's conf file.  I've been Googling for hours trying to find how to do this in geoclue.conf.

Please do not interfere and especially not to make an "I'm too lazy to read the comment I'm criticizing" comment.

Read the Code of Coduct; and then reread the thread.
