After a few hours of work, something happens and all icons become garbage. It looks like a memory corruption, the result looks like this (all that white-ish rectangles should be icons):
I started happing a few weeks ago after one of the updates. What can it be and how to fix this?

I've experienced plasma applets dissapearing from the systray (although not in arch), but have never ran into anything like this..
Have you found any logs that might be relavent?

Made any headway?
If you have a rough idea when this first started to happen, you could use `journalctl` to view the logs from that particular time frame. Could prove to be very useful for you, or for people that are a little more knowledgeable here on the forums.
From the arch wiki:
Show all messages from date (and optional time):
# journalctl --since="2012-10-30 18:17:16"
Show all messages since 20 minutes ago:
# journalctl --since "20 min ago"
Follow new messages:
# journalctl -f
Also, which compositor are you using, and what are the settings?
I seem to have had better results with OpenGL 3.1 with a scale method of `Smooth`. I had problems on other distros with my system hanging when under higher than average loads. Once I switched to OpenGL 3.1, it hasn't happened since.

The issue disappeared for a week or so and returned today. The relevant log:

I have no idea what this means. It also looks like this is happeing when the memory usage is high.

I was thinking maybe it was a compositor related issue but your log snippet appears to suggest otherwise..

I checked the logs one again. These errors are not relevant to the issue. They appear all the time.
Any ideas how to fix this? I feel an impression that this happens when the system is low on memory because last time it happened my I was rendering something in Blender.
I don't really want to reinstall the whole system. I keep Archlinux for almost 5 years on this machine and a reinstall is a such a pain.

Do you have an ATI graphics card? i had same issue with new ati driver and new xorg-server release. For now i've fixed downgrading. see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/58710?p … &sort=desc

Nope, I have an Intel integrated card.

Bump. I'm still suffering from this. Any ideas?
