As in the title.
Downgrading to 1.8.0... makes even the right click option "set as background" disappear.
Downgrading to 1.6... restores time-space continuum.
Setting the wallpaper from settings>desktop / right click on desktop works.
Setting the wallpaper from ristretto works also.
Anyone else? Is this arch, or vanilla?

I guess this is xfce's transition to gtk3 issue. Compatible versions ( meaning gtk3) of xfdesktop and thunar should work fine.

Do you mean right-clicking on an image file? I see the option "Set as wallpaper" there, using Thunar 1.8.1.

Agreed. Try to do it, it does not work.
Will report upstream now.

@archimboldo is correct, Thunar 1.8x's "Set as Wallpaper" functionality requires xfdesktop 4.13.2 to function properly.

Or simply remove "usr/lib/thunarx-3/thunar-wallpaper-plugin.so" to get rid of it for the time being.

where did you get this 4.13.2 version?
I have testing enabled and it shows
