Hello
This is a strange problem I encounter with my Sony Vaio FS laptop. When it works on battery power, it goes at full speed. When I connect AC power, the system slows down; for example the kernel boots a lot slower. When in framebuffer, you can also clearly see the cursor slows blinks slower.
I tried using sonypid but it doesn't help. I also don't see any errors in dmesg.
What could be the cause of this? I guess something built into the kernel is causing it. Maybe I should configure one manually.

Do you have some weird settings for laptop-mode-tools? Maybe sony reports charging as using battery instead of AC ?

Afaik I don't have that installed. It's simple, when you plug in the AC adapter it slows down significantly.
Note, the CPU speed stays the same all the time.

Maybe something's off in your BIOS. Check the power settings there. Are you using APM, or ACPI?
