Problem!! kernel26beyond - PDC40775 SATA 300 TX2plus !!

hi,

The latest kernel (2.6.17-beyond2.2 ) seems unable to process more than one hard disk for my SATA controller i.e. Promise PDC40775 (SATA 300 TX2plus)

# lspci

00:10.0 Mass storage controller: Promise Technology, Inc. PDC40775 (SATA 300 TX2plus) (rev 02)

Bad kernel (2.6.17.beyond2-2)

# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 320.0 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sda1               1       38913   312568641   83  Linux

Good kernel (handbuilt 2.6.16-beyond4.1)

# fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 320.0 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sda1               1       38913   312568641   83  Linux

Disk /dev/sdb: 200.0 GB, 200049647616 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 24321 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sdb1               1       24321   195358401   83  Linux

Dmesg from good kernel

Looking at the good kernel patches, I am sure the code to deal with multiple units got broken somehow in the latest kernel26beyond image. Both disks were accessible with earlier kernel26beyond images e.g. 2.6.17-beyond1 was a good image.

Let me know if you need more info.

thanks!

:shock:  :evil:  sad

Latest beyond kernel still contains the same regression.
