GNOME Wayland Disable Libinput Tap to Click Touchpad

I'm running GNOME on Wayland (I'm not the Xorg session) so I'm using the default libinput.  On my touchpad a single tap is left mouse button and a two finger tap is right mouse button.  I'd like to disable tap to click as it is happening almost constantly by accident.  My lapboard has physical buttons for left and right so I'd like to just use those.

In GNOME settings there is no option to disable tap to click and in the GNOME Tweak tool there is an option to disable them but setting it doesn't have an effect.

Did you try setting the org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.touchpad.tap-to-click dconf setting to false?

EDIT. In gnome-control-center's 'Mouse & Touchpad' panel, there is a setting to disable/enable 'Tap to click'. I didn't see option for doing that in tweak tool though..

Did you try setting the org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.touchpad.tap-to-click dconf setting to false?

EDIT. In gnome-control-center's 'Mouse & Touchpad' panel, there is a setting to disable/enable 'Tap to click'. I didn't see option for doing that in tweak tool though..

I tried to set the dconf key to false, logged out and back in but it didn't have an effect.

For seeing the option in GNOME control centre, are you xorg?  I'm Wayland so there might be a difference there.

I'm using wayland as well. There shouldn't be any difference between wayland and Xorg anyway, since gnome only supports libinput.

Huh, I just installed this system yesterday so I'm still kicking tires on it.  Trying to run an Xorg session results in the desktop locking up within a few seconds.  When I get a console back with REISUB I'm seeing GPU lockup errors.  I have an old Radeon 4350 so it might be failing.  Wayland though works mostly but I have had very infrequent lock ups with it too, nothing like a few seconds after desktop load like Xorg though.

So I can't tell if the options to disable mouse tap are available in Xorg.  I can't even launch settings before it locks up.

8 year old post, but I hit this problem recently.

I disabled tap-to-click in gnome, hyprland, swayfx, and gsettings. This turned off tap-to-click everywhere  but the login screen.

Solution: I had to install `gdm-settings`. Tap-to-click was already turned off in the GUI. I made a different change and saved the settings. The next time I logged in, tap-to-click no longer worked in the login screen.
