[sort of solved] systemd[1] failed to mount kernel configfs

I am getting that error, but the system seems to work never the less.
The wider context looks like:

systemd[1]: sys-kernel-config.mount: Mount process finished, but there is no mount.
systemd[1]: sys-kernel-config.mount: Failed with result 'protocol'.
systemd[1]: Failed to mount Kernel Configuration File System.

It could be related to upgrading to 4.18.1-arch1-1-ARCH.
The systemd unit file is /usr/lib/systemd/system/sys-kernel-config.mount.
The following is also of interest:

% mount | grep configfs
configfs on /sys/kernel/config type configfs (rw,relatime)

Re: [sort of solved] systemd[1] failed to mount kernel configfs

Initially, the thread had the subject:
systemd[1]: Failed to mount Kernel Configuration File System.

Since I posted, I am also posting what happened next.
After a reboot, or two, it sort of solved. I am not sure what I did, if at all. In any case, it doesn't happen now.

As an aside: contrary to what was before, the boot messages are not cleared up automatically when the VT login prompt is printed.
