Dell XPS 15 9550 SSD Readonly

Since this morning my file system has been randomly becoming read-only forcing me to reboot and then it's fine for a few hours before it happens again.

I assumed maybe my SSD was on it's way out but a hard drive test from the bios has come back reporting no errors.

I have pulled all the errors out of journalctl from that boot

I have backed up everything just in case and will go ahead and try a bios update, but this system has been running fine for a year until now.

Any ideas would be a great help, thanks!

Is that a Samsung SSD? They are known to be problematic with SATA power management and leading to a variety of issues. Try the following in any case:  if you are using TLP or similar, set the SATA link power management to max_performance, or change the current default setting as outlined in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Po … Management (but also to max_performance, cause the current default is what's likely to cause the issues).

If that wasn't it, could you provide a complete untruncated journal? Simply filtering for errors will often lack a lot of relevant context that might provide a hint as to where the issue lies.

You should post the full journal, and not only what you think is relevant.

Have you had those ACPI errors on every boot, even before the SSD issue started?
Anything in dmesg/journal at the time when the drive turns read-only?

Thanks for the help both! the bios update seemed to do the trick.

In future I will post full journal logs.
