KDE opens sh

Hi,

when i try to open applications with the run command of KDE (ALT+F2) sometimes I get a console window that runs the app and then the app disapears.

The console shows Finished.

It happens always if i run smb4k. It doesn't happen if I open smb4k from the konsole.

How can i fix that behaivour?

Thank you

Re: KDE opens sh

I found more information:

The output of the console is the STDOUT of the program that I run.

smb4k disappears because when it opens it goes automatically to the systray, but the systray don't show its icon.

So, what I think that is happening is that... ¿it is running some programs as terminal programs so it opens a console window to run them and it blocks access to the systray because of that?

Re: KDE opens sh

I don't use smb4k, but it's not supposed to act like that - it should start konsole only if:
1) you check "Run in terminal", and in that case it should happen to all apps you start from alt+f2
2) the app wants to open konsole, and in that case it should happen from the menu or when starting from a terminal too

And running it from a terminal should not stop the systray icon from appearing...

Re: KDE opens sh

thank you jaboua,

I expanded the options in the run command window and i found that when i typed smb4k it automatically added the "Run in terminal" checkbox.

I unchecked it and it is working fine again.
