When sending a document to print, the printer wakes up and tells the computer that printed the document.
But nothing has printed.
Every time I try to print, shows up for a second icon printing in the tray and disappears.
And this is what the CUPS logs shows:
W [16/Aug/2015:17:46:13 +0200] CreateProfile failed: org.freedesktop.ColorManager.AlreadyExists:profile id 'Brother-Gray..' already exists
W [16/Aug/2015:17:46:18 +0200] CreateProfile failed: org.freedesktop.ColorManager.AlreadyExists:profile id 'Brother-Gray..' already exists
To install i used this package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brother-hl1118
My CUPS version is 2.0.4.
I've tried to reinstall cups and install another driver (aur/brother-brgenml1) for the printer, but always when I try to print, the printer wakes up and says that successfully finished printing.
Edit: I removed and added a printer several times, no results.

I was able to print on HL-1110 by installing https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brother-hl-1112/. I was getting a "Filter failed" error when printing and hopefully by the time you read this it's fixed, otherwise read below.
In /var/log/cups/error_log I saw:
D [30/Aug/2018:00:27:14 +0200] [Job 6] cp: cannot stat \'/opt/brother/Printers/HL1110//inf/brHL1110rc\': No such file or directory
D [30/Aug/2018:00:27:14 +0200] [Job 6] rm: cannot remove \'/tmp/brHL1110rc_22306\': No such file or directory
D [30/Aug/2018:00:27:14 +0200] [Job 6] PID 22306 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_HL1110) stopped with status 1./usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_HL1110 is just a shell script, and indeed requires /opt/brother/Printers/HL1110//inf/brHL1110rc as the error log showed. I was able to get these files from Brother's website:
- download the deb file from http://support.brother.com/g/b/download … dlang=true
- $ ar x hl1110lpr-3.0.1-1.i386.deb
- $ tar xzvf data.tar.gz
- $ sudo mv opt/brother /opt

ive made a new aur package that comes with a patch https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brother-hl-1110
it also comes with some extra dependencies that should hopefully fix this issue

Hi Guys!
Check if you have installed lib32-glibc. Then install brother-hl-1112 driver, follow aleb's instruction to copy proper directory and refresh cups (sudo systemctl restart cups.service). In my case, the lib32-glibc library was the key,
Cheers

Closing.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
