I have a ThinkPad x1 carbon with Arch installed:
$ uname -a
Linux gianarb 4.18.5-arch1-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Aug 24 12:48:58 UTC 2018 x86_64 GNU/Linux
And pulseaudio:
pulseaudio --version
pulseaudio 12.2
I bought:
1. nw-100 phantom power
2. nw-800 mic
When I connect everything to the laptop jack paulseaudio doesn't detect anything and the bar that shows the volume for the internal microphone doesn't move at all. My end goal is to use it with OBS studio
Can you help me debug this issue?
Thanks a lot

Are you using XLR to 3,5mm jack adapter cable to connect the preamp to your laptop's built in inpur jack, or how that works? Have you tested that the setup works with other devices? Have you successfully used other microphones trough the same input jack?
Make sure the ALSA input channel is not muted, and has full volume in alsamixer. Then test if the input works with arecord, or some other application that uses ALSA directly. If input works trough ALSA, something's amiss with pulseaudio.
