orphan

I've read AUR FAQ but I still don't understand what "orphan" means. Can I takeover such package and maintain it?

Re: orphan

orphan means that someone once maintained the package but "orphaned" it, or disowned it. The package is no longer maintained by anyone. You can adopt it by logging into the AUR, selecting the package and hitting "adopt"
