Problem using startx

Hi

I would like to know why I cannot save files using the tor browser bundle when I start gnome from startx as opposed to gdm.

I startx using:
dbus-launch --exit-with-x11 gnome-session
and when I try and save a file nothing happens. It just sits in the mozilla tmp directory downloaded

I tried setting the XDG variables for Downloads etc but that still doesn't work.
Anyone know what I am missing?

Don't use dbus-launch, import the correct scripts from a default xinitrc so that your session is properly intialized instead and just exec gnome-session at the end. Note the second blue box in https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinit#xinitrc
