It's fixed in youtube-dl-2018.09.08. You can wait for an update or build it yourself in the meantime.

I have same error when try to download something from youtube (vimeo and others seem to work). There are 2 newer versions of youtube-dl then what it is in arch. What's keeps so long to update youtube-dl package to newer version in arch?

@xerxes_, please don't bump solved threads. As far as updating packages is concerned, Arch Packagers don't have any defined SLA. In this particular case, youtube-dl is easily installable without a package manager and considering the frequency with which it gets updates, it's better to keep it updated yourself.

There is also the option to use the -git package from the AUR and rebuild it regularily.
