I had previously installed several Plasma widgets through the "Add widgets" > "Get new widgets" > "Download new Plasma widgets" dialog. Now when I open that window and select "Installed," it shows none of my installed widgets and gives me an error: "Unknown Open Collaboration Service API Error (999)." When I search in Discover, there are updates to some of these widgets available.
As it seems that Plasma is moving toward Discover to unify the downloading/updating of add-ons, my question is this: What is best practice for updating these widgets in this case? Is it safe to simply install them via Discover? Should I manually remove the old files first, and if so, where are they located?
Any assistance would be appreciated, and if I can provide any further information please let me know. Thanks.

Discover and the Plasma add-on installer are two different UIs for the same engine, there should be no difference between using one or the other

Did you manage to solve the issue with this error? Even though these two applications use the same engine, I have the problem with Discover, which kesps telling me I have three Arc KDE themes installed, and I literally can't install them.

I have not had this problem. You should start a new thread.
