[SOLVED] mbsync gmail fails w/ openssl 1.1.1-1

I use mbsync for syncronizing my imap accounts to local maildirs.  I just realized one of my gmail accounts is failing to sync with the following error:

$ mbsync gmail
C: 0/1  B: 0/1  M: +0/0 *0/0 #0/0  S: +0/0 *0/0 #0/0
SSL error connecting imap.gmail.com (74.125.21.109:993): self signed certificate
C: 1/1  B: 0/1  M: +0/0 *0/0 #0/0  S: +0/0 *0/0 #0/0

It has been working fine for quite some time.  The last synced email was from september 12, though that account has been quiet until today, so it may have started failing anytime between the 12th and today.

I checked the troubleshooting section of the wiki and tried adding the gmail cert and GlobalSign cert to ~/.certs and ammended my mbsyncrc accordingly, but the error persisted.  I checked my pacman log for any packages upgraded in the intervening time, and found only one likely canidate to have an effect: openssl.  I downgraded to openssl 1.1.0.i-1 and mbysnc then worked fine (but keeping openssl downgraded seems like a bad idea).  I upgraded again and confirmed that mbysnc again fails.

I can only suspect that mbsync or another package in the dependency chain may need a rebuild against the new openssl.  Can anyone confirm and/or provide any further diagnostic steps?

Sounds like we need another one

Edit: Oh wait, mbsync is isync, so the 3rd link is the relevant one.

Oops.  I think I must have searched for 'mbsync' on the bug tracker which doesn't give any results.  Thanks for the links.  I'll mark this as solved as the issue is being tracked.

EDIT: and as of today it is fully fixed with the rebuild of isync in the repos.
