Hello everyone.
As the title mentions, after upgrading to Gnome 3.30 the settings menu doesn't work anymore. I am getting a segfault which I describe below:

What exctly did you do? libgio-2.0.so.0 is from glib2 which saw a recent update as well, so if you happily conducted a partial update to "Gnome 3.30", there's (likely) your problem.

Hi. I just performed a full system upgrade (as I always do):
sudo pacman -Syu
python -c 'import this' | awk 'NR == 5'

I have a crash with card sharing and sometimes with nautilus
always when the new version of the environment is released, there are almost identical problems -:)

Any suggestion on what is happening here?
Please paste the output(complete debug infomation):
$gnome-control-center -v
I found the issue:gnome-control-center core dump,looks like same dump,you can try the participant solution.
Also,if that not working,you can follow the README,then put an issue here:gnome-control-center/Gitlab
Hope this can help you.

I've written a workaround fix for it on the bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/60088
tl;dr
sudo pacman -S avahi && sudo systemctl enable avahi && sudo systemctl start avahi

Indeed, looks like missing avahi was causing this bug
$ gnome-control-center -v

sudo pacman -S avahi && sudo systemctl enable avahi && sudo systemctl start avahi
It's actually called avahi-daemon.service, starting it does fix the issue.
Here's a gnome issue on this bug.

Thanks for the help and work around. However, I had to adjust the command line like this:
sudo pacman -S avahi && sudo systemctl enable avahi-daemon && sudo systemctl start avahi-daemon
works

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie in Arch and I have the same issue here. I installed arch and It worked fine for a day but at some point system settings didn't open.
This is the output when I type gnome-control-center in terminal:
$gnome-control-center

And here is the status of avahi-daemon service:
$systemctl status avahi-daemon.service

Avahi service looks fine but gnome-control center still doesn't work. I reinstalled the package and reboot. But it didn't work.
If anyone could guide me through this, I'll be grateful.

I had the same problem after accessing the "details" panel.
To circumvent the problem you can
> dconf reset -f /org/gnome/control-center/
And avoid accessing the "deailts" panel.

Turns out the bug was well-known and has been fixed upstream.

The original issue had nothing to do with the issue you are experiencing now, here's an updated thread for the current issue: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=244792
Closing.
