All Indian Arch Mirrors are down at the same time?!

Generally I do not report such issues.

But I am from India and it seems that all 3 Arch linux mirrors are down.

From official mirrorlist file:

# India
Server = http://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = http://ftp.iitm.ac.in/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = https://ind.mirror.pkgbuild.com/$repo/os/$arch

I have no idea who and where to report. Hence posting here.

IIT M (Mumbai) and IIT K (Kolkata) are big universities in India.

Both places going down together is something to look for.

Mirror status page reports that pkgbuild Indian mirror is down (77% complete) and one IIT server down completely.. other hasnt been updated from 16 hours or so.

I think reporting it on the bug tracker, or alternatively using the Arch mirrors mailing list, would be the best bet.

Re: All Indian Arch Mirrors are down at the same time?!

pkgbuild seems to be up now.

I never used IIT mirrors so not sure if they were actually working earlier or not.

Will wait for couple of days before reporting to mailing list

Re: All Indian Arch Mirrors are down at the same time?!

These IIT mirrors do provide debian as well.
The debian status has logged only errors since 2018-09-18 05:05:04 for IITK (20 minutes earlier the sync succeeded).

IITM appears to work for them, but on 2018-09-20 it was unreliable.

Re: All Indian Arch Mirrors are down at the same time?!

If servers are showing as synced on status page then may be for some reason incoming connections are blocked. But servers are able to connect out (to sync)

http://mirror.cse.iitk.ac.in/archlinux/
http://ftp.iitm.ac.in/archlinux/

Both links are still not working.

Even for non-logged-in users, the last item on the error log is "Connection timed out. 2018-09-23 02:11"

https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/iitm.ac.in/ seems to be okay, but with like a 5-hour delay. Its upstream is https://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/gtlib.gatech.edu/ which reported some issues recently.

Re: All Indian Arch Mirrors are down at the same time?!

Issue with upstream should not cause issue of connecting to the mirror itself.

Although status page shows it to be okay but I am not able to connect to it from almost 2 days now.

PS: [OT] Where is the option to login for mirror status page? I am already logged in for this forum and wiki page. Is there 3rd login for status page?

This requires an archweb account, which is not the same as a forum account which is not the same as a wiki account. In order to get an archweb account you need to be a staff member, or, more recently, you need to ask for a free "tester" account in accordance with https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Testing_Team

Ah, ok. Thank you. Didnt know about archweb thing.

I just remembered AUR account is different too.

May be we need to unify that to have common login under "archlinux.org". Something similar to Fedora Account System (FAS)?

Re: All Indian Arch Mirrors are down at the same time?!

Well, it's on our TODO list to implement single-sign-on via LDAP, but it's an open question whether that would apply to all forum/AUR/wiki/bugtracker users ever -- whereas staff members often have all of these, in addition to bugtracker, archweb, and SSH accounts being positively mandatory for Devs/TUs, AUR accounts being mandatory for TUs, and forum/wiki staff being defined by their forum/wiki account.
