Modules are a different version from Kernel [SOLVED]

Hello friends,

I'm installing Arch on my new X1 Carbon Thinkpad (gen6). It all goes smooth as per the wiki, but by the time I ch-root into the install, the modules are a different version than the base I installed and I'm not sure why. I've installed 4.18.5 kernel (I believe) and the modules are listed as version 4.18.9. When I reboot I lose modules and don't have internet. I've tried updating the kernel with sudo pacman -S linux before the reboot, and it does list 4.18.9 as a newer version, but it doesn't seem to make the change.

added note: I did install a version of Manjaro previously that used the newer kernel, but I did reformat the drive, so I'm not sure how that could have an effect.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Aleks

Sounds like you messed up mounting /boot during a kernel upgrade.

Please paste your exact steps, your partition layout and the contents of /boot.

As it stands the problem was completely unrelated. There was no problem with the install actually, but I was failing to start the network correctly after reboot. Thank you for your time.
