Dual boot Linux and Windows 10 with Intel Optane memory?

I have both Windows 10 and Arch Linux installed on my first harddisk. My system supports Intel Optane memory to speed up Windows 10, but will this affect my Linux-setup since it is installed on the same physical disk? And if it does, would it help to move my Linux-setup to a different physical disk? (I am aware that Intel Optane memory only supports Windows 10, but I will be content if the two can coexist happily in one computer case.)

get an SSD, install linux on it, boot from that, and use the HDD for extra storage/backups

Disable windows kinda feature. IIRC it will bypass the normal boot sequence.

do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice the saint wink

Re: Dual boot Linux and Windows 10 with Intel Optane memory?

I just tried to install to a windows 10 machine with optane memory disk on it.

Was able to shrink down to half with windows storage manager.

However the machine was using Intel Rapid Storage with creating a RAID volume of some kind between the physical disk and the optane memory disk.  The optane memory disk thing being RAIDed with a physical disk.  So that needs an explanation.  That doesn't quite make sense.  Or maybe it pulls back and forth between memory and disk (which is involved anyway).  Gparted only showed /dev/mapper/isw and isw is a raid member is not a recognized file system.  Fdisk shows the partitions, but after shrinking the volume in windows, doesn't show the free partition space, only the full space taken up by windows before resizing.

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...

Nomorewindows,

This thread is from 2018. It's probably not much harm for this comment to be found by anyone searching, but anyone experiencing this problem should be opening a new thread at this point.

Closing.

All the best,
