Sound Server error in KDE

Hello all, new Arch user here.  I've just installed kde and when launching KDE I receive the following error:

Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (Permission denied)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

I have tried to chmod 755 /dev/dsp as root  but the next time I log on to KDE, I receive the same error.  Any ideas?

Thx!!

Re: Sound Server error in KDE

The Wiki is usually helpful for things like this.  If you enter 'audio' in the Find field and press the Search button, the article is listed.
