Alternate way of setting keybindings for kde

I'm trying to set a hotkey that uses three keys on kde; but it's not having any of it. it only allows one and one special key. I want to use three normal keys at the same time. is there any way to do this? an alternate way of setting hotkeys, or a different program to set hotkeys?

Re: Alternate way of setting keybindings for kde

And so i went into ~/.config/kglobalshortcutsrc, and edited the shortcuts manually; and it did nothing. so I'm thinking perhaps this just isn't possible in kde.

three normal keys at the same time

I doubt any shortcut daemon supports this but most importantly it is a stupid idea:

Let's say you wanted to bind "a+s+d". Enter any text editor, a terminal emulator, pick some. Press "a" (hold it, if you want).
As you can see, the vast majority (99.98987%) of all input reacts to alphabetic key presses.
Turning "a+s+d" into a shortcut sequence would prevent you from ever entering "a" anywhere.

What is fairly common are emacs-style shortcuts, xbindkeys can do that, but it's more complicated to configure. https://unix.stackexchange.com/question … -xbindkeys
