vboxservice not starting because of ConditionVirtualization != oracle

My setup is

  • HOST: Windows 10 x64 + VirtualBox 5.1.38

  • GUEST: Arch Linux linux x86_64 4.18.16 with systemd 239.2

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Vi … _modules_2

ArchWiki wrote:

To load the modules automatically, enable vboxservice.service which loads the modules and synchronizes the guest's system time with the host.

[root@archlinux ~]# systemctl status vboxservice
* vboxservice.service - VirtualBox Guest Service
   Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/vboxservice.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)
Condition: start condition failed at Tue 2018-11-06 10:21:23 UTC; 10min ago
           `- ConditionVirtualization=oracle was not met

[root@archlinux ~]# systemd-detect-virt
kvm

Created VM with VirtualBox GUI. Paravirtualization interface option is set to "Default", tried ahother available options like "none", "Hyper-V", "legacy", "KVM", each gives different systemd-detect-virt output but no "oracle".

Am I missing something?

Re: vboxservice not starting because of ConditionVirtualization != oracle

Did you maybe change the DMI vendor information of your VM?
