[SOLVED] Best way to install U-He synths?

I'm interested in the likes of Zebra2 and Diva, there is an AUR package for Hive but not for the newer stuff. I've never maintained any AUR packages, and the Hive build script has a bunch of (atypical) bash code that I can't follow, so not sure if it would be straightforward or not.

I guess a way to rephrase my question: do i have to install it? or can i move the .so file somewhere in the path for vsts?

There is an edit button, please use it rather than bumping the thread.

I don't know what "for vsts" means, but moving an .so file into place is installing a library.  Doing so around your package manager's back is a bad idea.  If you have a (properly built) .so file that is needed, you can write a PKGBUILD to just install that lib - doing so would be trivial.

Re: [SOLVED] Best way to install U-He synths?

is the aur package you meant https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/uhe-hive-vst/ ?

proprietary virtual synthesizer software meant for a digital audio workstation .
Both zebra2 and diva appear to need a DAW host program, which are you using ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: [SOLVED] Best way to install U-He synths?

@Lone_Wolf yes that's the one I meant, I'm using Bitwig so it works fine as a vst.

@Trilby yes the synth dir has an .so file and an install script. I've never written a PKGBUILD and the Arch page for it has a ton of stuff so its confusing, can you point to the relevant section or a workable example for beginners?

Thanks,

Re: [SOLVED] Best way to install U-He synths?

I'd point to the wiki page.  It is really quite clear and concise and has links to examples/templates.  If you just need to move an .so file into place you'd just take a template PKGBUILD, remove the build function, set all the variables appropriately, and put the 'mv' (or install) command in the package function to put the .so in place.
